Round Pen

We were able to buy some panels at an auction a couple of months ago.
My plan was to place them across the arena to make it easier to work Otoelene.
I decided that that was still going to be too large to work her in properly.  So, I made them into just a 40 foot round pen.
I worked her for the first time in it today.
She did great.  She might be just a little lazy.  I have to keep after her to keep her from breaking.  She never once whinnied for the other horses and I was able to keep one end door open to help with the light.  We just got an estimate for water and electricity to the barn and it is as much as the entire plumbing and electrical, including all fixtures, for when we built our house 10 years ago.  I keep wanting to say, "It's just a barn!"
Anyway, so far so good with using the barn.  It was windy today but I didn't even notice it in there.  Very nice.

What a nice barn! Is that a sand surface?

Nice barn, and good to get the pen cheaper. It's so nice to be out of the wind, I have barn envy!

Yes, it is 2-4 inches of sand.

I was hoping to have my round pen covered by this year. Didn't happen. Maybe we'll be able to do it this year.

Great work area for you and your horses.

Oh man I still am jealous about that arena looks so good!! Nice to hear Otelene doesnt worry when shes away from other ponies too.

I would make sure you get the panels with the chain connectors and not the straight pin. I had heard of a horror story where a horse reared and came down between the round pen panels and got lodged. They were unable to undo the panels b/c the pin got bent. If it was a chain, they could have cut the chain and got the horse out.

Just wondering if anyone on here has a "secret" source for these panels? I have been looking at UFA and Peavey, but it costs about $3000 for a 60' round pen from there..round pen panels
.I was hoping to find something cheaper.
