Hobby Horse Blog Hop Prompts - Week 2:

I just found this blog hop at Living A Dream and I thought I might try it out.

H
obby Horse Blog Hop Prompts - Week 2:
  1. Tell us about a special person you associate with your interest in horses. In what ways did(does) the person support you?
  2. Carousels: Yes or No? Which horse do/did you choose to ride?
  3. What sort of books did you read when growing up?

Anyone that knows me will know the answer to number 1 is my oldest sister L.  She was born wanting a horse.  I guess it sort of rubbed off on me.  She taught me to ride, took me to horse shows, showed me how to condition a horse for a competitive ride, and pretty much anything else you can do with a horse.  She even drove me around the state to help me pick out my first horse when I was 16.

She is now supporting my daughters.  L was at their first show.
She is still trying to get one of them to show her horse.
She will talk about horses all day if you want.
I'm not sure I would have ever been involved with horses had it not been for her.

Now according to the rules of the blog hop I have to ask a question.
If you have shown, how old were you at your first show?

I am so glad that you joined the blog hop! It was great fun reading about your sister and her influence, not only on you but on your daughters as well. I love seeing all of the pictures! She is more than welcome to come visit me and I will talk horses with her any day of the week!

So, to answer your question: I was 15 when I rode in my first show(s). I did some entry level eventing through Pony Club and then took some lessons at a show barn, so rode their horses in schooling shows. I much preferred eventing!

Hello! Thanks for stopping over at my blog. I enjoyed your photos/

I have never shown.

I also don't feed my horse grain, but I am the only one at my barn!

L really did take you under her wing. This was a very nice write up.

I loved the cute picture of E at her first show.

I don't remember how old I was when I showed at my first horse show (which I think was my only show).
