Remember when J said, "If they don't tear it up, they s#%* on it." Well, the bulls are at it again.
This time it's the hay feeders. They had torn one apart so J put a second one in the field. Now they've torn it up.
J has two different repair techniques, neither of which is very permanent The first is to replace the nuts, bolts and washers.
The second is to just wrap a bunch of wire around it.
But with four one ton bulls pushing on it, nothing lasts for long. And you know the best hay is in the absolute center of the bale which you have to push really hard to get to.
After the repairs it was back up and over the hay.
So much of farming is just brute force. After one of my suggestions J commented, "Do you think I'm a tractor?"
Any bets as to how long this repair will last?

It's a wonder that our farmer-husbands' bodies haven't worn out long ago! I'm glad we do most of our breeding AI...but I know that's not practical for a beef operation.
ReplyDeletehaha Ohh yes, the infamous bulls attacked the feeders. We've had our fair share of these issues, luckily we switched over to poly type ones and they've held up wonderfully for about 2-3 years now. Those ol grumpy men are just insisted on getting the best of the best when it comes to their feed and a silly feeder won't stop them ;)
