We've used this temporary electric mesh fence for several seasons now. It's been a real labor saver.
We use it in the winter to fence the goats out of the overflow hay lot. J use to put in metal post and run 2 strands of wire. That kept the cattle out but didn't phase the goats. This has worked great for both. The hay lot is now empty so it's time for us to take up the fence. First step, unhook from electricity, then pull all the post up and lay flat.
V helped fold it up then roll it up. It's not difficult but the process can be messed up which makes it harder to lay out to use the next time. V's comment, "I see why father doesn't like to do this.
Now it's stored in the barn to maybe be used next month when the goats are suppose to start kidding for real.
We are considering electric fence to fence off our poultry from predators this spring, it was good to see this in use, and we would be VERY careful folding it up... thanks for the warning!
ReplyDeleteOur temp fence always seems to get left way too long and its a hairball to take down yours looks so tidy
ReplyDeleteHaving a temporary fence seems really handy! It looks like it's effective at keeping the goats on their side. My parents are thinking of getting a temporary fence so they keep our elderly dog in one area when she goes out to the bathroom. She has really bad eyesight and wanders a lot.

Until my parents can get up the new permanent fence, we need to find something that can hold up until then. There are a few barn animals we would like to keep in the yard. Would anyone happen to know where we could find temporary fencing near Seattle, WA? http://www.rent-a-fence.com/
ReplyDeleteWe used to live out on a farm like this and were were constantly moving our fences around. It would have been really nice to have just a temporary fence to make it easier to move. We kept buying more and more land, and were constantly having to expand the barrier. http://www.rent-a-fence.com/

ReplyDeleteIt would be so nice to have a temporary fence that can move around whenever you need it. If I were to move out on a farm, I would definitely want to get a farm to have stuff else about it.
