Fridays Fences #78

It seems like all of my Friday Fences are of us repairing fences.  This time it was at the farm J grew up on.  The calves apparently got out and someone ran them back.  In the process they torn down part of the fence.
The first section J had to put in a new post but was able to reuse the boards.
The rest of the fence was pretty useless, about 7 strands of loose smooth wire and 4 strands of loose barb wire.  The calves had no respect for it.  J had some used woven wire that we were able to reuse for this section.
We stretched is between the still solid posts and put in some metal posts along the way.  Maybe this will get us through a few more seasons.

  1. Ahhhh! Fences and calves....they never go well together. And bulls and fences too! Seems we are always fixing fence somewhere...Deer, elk, cows...
Wire and wire cutters seem to be in the pickup at all times....

  2. Nice to see and hear a comment on a fence from somebody who really understands it. For us city inhabitants sometimes a bit difficult to understand.

  3. Once they find a weak spot, they take advantage of it! We had a renegade heifer out at the "other farm" on Monday, and she couldn't even go back in the way she went out....had to take downs some more fence on her way back in!

  7. Keeping up fences on a farm seems like a never ending job to me. How you all do it all, I do not know. Guess it is important to have a husband who is handy with the saw. It is always nice to have a look into the lives of other bloggers. Have a anise weekend. genie
