Most people probably don't get as excited about mulch as I do. I had been getting some at a nearby sawmill for the past several years. It wasn't the best but it was cheep, $20 for a full pickup load piled up as high as the top of the cab. Unfortunately, the sawmill changed hands and the new owner doesn't sell mulch. So, for the past 2 years I have been dropping hints that I wanted mulch, for my birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas... but nobody seemed to pick up on this as a gift idea. So I broke down and got it myself. We have had 2 days in a row above freezing and dry and they were my days off too, so it worked out well.
My flowerbeds were getting a little tired looking without any mulch for the last 2 years.I won't even tell you what I had to pay for this. I ended up getting 2 loads so far. But it is either mulch or Round-up, and I prefer not using chemicals if I don't have to.
I just love how everything looks with a fresh layer of mulch.
It's amazing how this will be full of flowers in the next couple of months.
My little mugo pines are doing well.
This is where the second load ran out. I might have to wait a week or two to let my back rest before I get another load.
Looking good! You are way ahead of me! I don't even have last fall's dead growth cleaned off yet, let alone the weeds pulled and soil loosened. I think it always looks so nice...and happy...after the mulching is done! That's really too bad there isn't a big supply of mulch in your area! I think we're spoiled here.
