Guest Photographer

Correction, the rare bird is the second photo, a garganey.

Just wanted to share some of the amazing photos E has been taking in Texas.  One of the birds was a rare sighting and was put on eBird as a rare bird alert.  I believe it is the last one, a least grebe.

  1. These photos look like they are from a magazine. Beautifully done. I looked closely at the bird with a yellow body and a black head and neck with blue markings. At first glance the bird appears to be perched on a log but in fact it is in mid air (landing? hopping?). Above it's head appears to be an orange slice - I just can't figure it out. The blue markings on the birds head are very striking.

    Impressive

  2. I was captivated by the same bird as C- what is it?
And of course, I love the Barred Owl. I have no idea what most of them are!
