A load of our Spring calves got sent off to the feedlot this morning.
They have been hanging out in the field behind the house since weaning. December 31 was a foggy morning. And today was a frosty morning.
That actually worked out well because the ground was frozen and there were no problems with trucks and trailers getting stuck in the mud.
I just had to help briefly getting them up this morning before work. J had 3 other drivers lined up to help haul the calves to the neighboring farm that has a set of scales and an area large enough to load a tractor trailer out of.
J said everything went off without a hitch. The truck driver said he expects to make it to Nebraska by 3 am. Hopefully, we get a call in the morning that they get there ok. 90 less head for J to feed here.
So much organization and planning. I hope it all works out.
