We had a breeding issue with one of our young bulls last year. Joe decided to keep him over the winter and see if the problem resolved. We had a breeding soundness exam done this spring, which he passed, but it was still inconclusive as to whether or not he would be physically able to get the job done. The other day, Joe put him with a cow in heat and things just didn't go right. We are turning the bulls out with the cows in about 3 weeks, and now we are one short.
That lead us to hunt for a local available bull. An angus breeder about an hour away had one left, so we went to check him out. He was a low birth weight calving ease bull. He looked nice with no obvious issues. Sold! Plus, they deliver. Looks like a new bull will be showing up shortly.
I'm glad you were able to find a solution close to home
