What On Earth Is That Thing

We have been diligently sorting through my parent’s house. We found this. 

You may ask, “What is that thing?”  

It is a fly swatter my father had in his office at VPI.  My brother asked him one time why he was using that fly swatter. His response was “I want to give the flies a fighting chance.”
