It was a very busy week of couponing. Monday Dollar General came out with a $2 off purchase of $10 that was good for 2 days only. Since I had to work Tuesday and would be in town anyway, I came up with a few scenarios to try. I have 4 accounts now because my mother and one sister have given me "Power of Couponing" for them.
First deal was a combo of paper and digital coupons, 3 cents plus tax.I had bought those Fabreeze plug ins last week, but didn't have the plug. I found out the coupon worked on the plugs too. 45 cents plus tax.
Then there was a good deal on Halloween candy, on sale B2G1 free. Plus there was a digital for 2 off 10 specifically for halloween candy, then the regular 2 off 10 and I had a paper coupon for $2 off the purchase of 3 bags of Mars candy. The regular price was $5 each x 3 = 15-2-2-2-5 = $4 for the 3 bags. This was only 3 accounts but I thought I would stop while I was ahead. And a good thing I saved some of the good coupons because....
On Wednesday I saw where a new coupon for Rachael Ray wet dog food was giving $1.10 overage on a tub of food. I quickly clipping the digital on 3 accounts but was going to do it on the 4th one the next day. But the next day the coupon was gone, NLA (no longer available). The 3 I had already clipped were still there and still working to give overage. So if they are going to pay you to take stuff out of the store, why not. Total above 15 cents plus tax.
Then there was also a clearance event this weekend (still going on) that was and additional 50% off clearance prices. So those Febreze warmers marked $4.50 were $2.25 each and there was a $5 off 2 digital coupon which gave me another 50 cents of overage to work with. Total here was -20 cents but that tax made me pay 43 cents.
Then with my last dog food I bought a new hose sprayer since my last one just decentagrated. Lawn and garden was 40% off then and extra 50% off that, so with my dog food I only paid 70 cents plus tax.
Ok, last one. This was at Family Dollar. I don't coupon there much because their 5off25 is after all coupons, unless... it is all digital. Makes it a little harder to get the really good deals. They have started a thing on the app where you get a spin for a random store wide coupon. I got a $3 off purchase of $15. I thought it might be easier to come up with $15 worth of stuff instead of $25. And looky there, those Febreeze plugs were on clearance for $2.63 and yes, there was the same 5 off 2 coupon. I bought things I had good coupons for then filled in the rest with the Oreos and hot chocolate. Total $3.26 plus tax. I like to look at is as I paid for the cookies and got everything else free.
I think total savings for the week, $69 total spent $11.32 that is including all tax. So pretty much bought the candy (sale price) and got everything else FREE. May little shelf area is now overflowing, I might need a new hobby.
I'm out of superlatives on these crazy deals. Wow. Great job!! :)
