I HATE Coyotes

The goats have gotten where they will just not stay together.  Therefore, the dogs have more territory to guard than they can manage.
Last week 3 of the bottle goats came up missing.  Three that I had saved, nursed to health, fed and cared for, gone.  Then a couple of nights later we heard the coyotes just in front of the house.  The next morning, another dead goat.
We have tried to put them together at night only to have them go in 5 different directions the next day.  Then last night we heard them again.
J found this baby goat up on the hill today, chewed up around her head and neck.  One of the worst wounds was a deep puncture on her lower back.  It may have damaged her spinal cord.  She does not have good control of her back legs now.
I clipped and cleaned her wounds, started her on an antibiotic, gave her pain medicine, anti inflammatories and started her on IV fluids for shock.  I thought I might give her 24 hours to see if she shows any improvement.  If not, I will most likely have to euthanize her.
I hate coyotes.

  1. I hate coyotes too! To lose 3 bottle fed goats you gave so much special attention to raise. Now this poor little thing. I hope she recovers.

The culling post was sad. This one is sad. Ranching is not for sissies.

  2. I can't stand coyotes either...we have them on our land. Poor baby goat, hope it turns out she is okay. Lucky for your animals to have a vet caring for them.
