I climbed over the gate one day when Otoelene was standing next to it and decided it would be a good time to desensitize the space above her head. She didn't seem to mind me being above her at all. She then turned sideways to the fence and wanted to be scratched. Well, obviously, the next step was to go ahead an sit on her.
She is not the least bit bothered by the arrangement, especially if she get to be scratched in the process.
I've sat on her several times now and she never offers to move.I love how relaxed she is.
I'm still not brave enough yet to get all the way on (particularly without a halter), but I'm getting close. She'll be a year old April 30th.

OMG...41!!!!
That's fantastic that she is so easy going.
Our Palomino Ziggy has an appt. on the 25th to see the Dr. I don't think he's going to be impressed with what the vet does to him.....
and I don't mean that old far side cartoon of being "tutored".
I'm fascinated with the process of training a horse. My daughter has a teacher who not only teaches her to ride, but they work on horse training. She has already taken an abused mare that we got at an auction and turned her into a wonderful riding horse. She was so out of control when we got her that we weren't sure we could keep her. 180 degree turn around!
I look forward to reading about your progress with your one year old. Good start!
Hello! I stumbled across your blog several months ago, and have silently enjoyed reading it immensely! I hope you don't mind if I follow along. I've loved watching your progress with Otoelene, and get a kick out of hearing about your daughters in 4-H. Our kids are much younger,(5,8 and 9) and just starting out in their first year of 4-H. They love to huddle around the computer to see the pics on your blog too! Our families share a love of livestock, and we look forward to reading your posts.
Sincerely,
Lynell
What a beautiful filly, and you must have treated her so very well for her to be so trusting. 41 kids.... WOWWWWW! That's a lot of goats!
Beautiful horse! It's nice that she is standing and so relaxed.
