Bad For Sale Pictures

Goats for sale have been a gold mine for bad pictures.
This is always my favorite view, big head, little legs.
I really wish people would learn how to rotate a picture.
Ok, this one isn’t bad, they even got low enough to see how small his is.

Any takers for a mini lamancha with blue eyes and moon spots?  He is pretty cute after all.

Tuesday Humor

One of the vets that works Tuesday has COVID, so I was called on to work today.  So no farm pictures.  But I do have a few things that have caught my eye on Facebook I thought I would share.

 Hope it made you chuckle.

New Horse???

Joe has been talking about getting a new horse.  He has been looking online at horses for months now.  Today, he finally looked at one in person.
Meet Magneto.  He was a rescue horse, untouched until he was about 2  1/2.  He was gelded and then put though a 120 day  training competition similar the the mustang makeover, which he won.  His current owners were hoping to  take him on a year long ride through the western states, national parks and BLM lands.  But have decided he is to sensitive to alternate between riding horse and pack horse.  So they have made the difficult decision to sell him and look for something more staid.
He exact breeding is undetermined, but the farm he was rescued from originally bred Arabians.  At the time of rescue, there was also a quarter horse stallion and a mustang stallion.  After seeing him in person, I think he is a high percentage Arabian.   Joe is wanting something he could endurance ride again and Magneto looks the part.
The owners were gracious enough to saddle up some other steeds for us all to go on a trail ride around their beautiful property.
And look what I got to ride, my first mule!  And she did absolutely wonderful.  Joe has a lot of thinking to do and a big decision to make.  We will all have to wait and see what happens.  We had a nice daycation.

Tons More Cuteness

Mike, Virginia, Sadie and Allie spent the day with us.  Sadie wanted to go see the horses and she wasn’t taking no for an answer.
Then, after seeing them, she wanted to turn them out to eat grass.  It was a little early, but I let her do it.  Then she wanted to get on.  Virginia put her up on Otoelene and she didn’t want to get off.  I had to tell her she had to put on pants first.  She was still wearing her dress from church.
So, after lunch, I saddled up Otoelene and took Sadie riding.  Every time I asked if she wanted to get off she would say, ‘ NO, more.”

After a ride down the driveway and back, and a couple of more laps around the barn, she consented to get off.  Then, after a nap, it was back out to feed the dogs.  Have you every seen someone so happy to carry a bucket.
Then we made another trip to feed the calves.  Notice the different bucket.

She is very interested in seeing the animals eating.

Somehow, I missed taking pictures of Allie again.  I know you can’t tell, but I do hold her and play with her.  She is sitting up with help, smiling, drooling and maybe getting a tooth.

Feeding Calves

Virginia and Mike had a dinner tonight so Joe and I are keeping Sadie.  Allie is staying with them.
So of course, we had to go check on all of the animals.  There was lots of buckets to carry, and water to check.

After she poured her bucket of grain in the trough she looked at the calf and said, “eat.”

I think she will be ready for a bottle calf next.

New Wheels

Our 2013 4wheeler has been in the shop more than not this summer.  It had 10,000 miles on it.  The last straw was when it stranded Joe at our other farm and he had to walk a mile and a half back home.
So he loaded it up this morning and came back with…
this.  It is basically the same thing but a little more horsepower.  Maybe it will go for 10 years this time.

Apple Orchard

Last year my little apple tree had 14 apples HERE
I haven’t counted this year because Joe has already been eating them.
He said he had been craving an apple and low and behold there were some apples right in the yard.
I still may have enough for a little batch of applesauce. I will keep you updated.

Couponing #77

Just a small any day deal.  I really don’t need more soap, but everyone in my Facebook Dollar General groups keeps  posting about it.  That has worn me down and I don’t want to miss the deal now, so here goes.
Two big bottles of  Suave body wash, have the 3 digital coupons clipped and head to the self checkout.  It will not work at a regular register.

Apparently, the self checkout can’t decide which coupon to take, so it takes all three.  75 cents, saving $6.00.  Not free, but now I can rest easy that I got the deal.

The Shoe

When I was riding Otoelene today, I saw a shoe beside the road.

This was about a mile up the gravel road.  Usually, there is just normal trash, beer cans, fast food wrappers, pop bottles.
A shoe was something different.  So many questions.  Where was the other one? Why no laces?  Was it lost or thrown out on purpose?  It will remain a mystery.

Calendar Worthy

I have managed to figure out how to transfer pictures from the camera to my iPad.  Emily’s old camera has WiFi capabilities and I finally took the time to work with it today.  Here are a few pictures I took a couple of weeks ago.
Sadie is so happy to check on the animals.
She is very interested in making sure they all have food and water.
Now I just need a photo contest to enter.  With such a good subject, it would be hard picking the best.
I am so happy that I can start using the camera again instead of trying to deal with my phone.  For me, the camera is much easier and convenient.   But I am still on the hunt for a desktop computer.  Blogging from the iPad isn’t getting any easier either.

In Bloom At The 4Rs

Even though we have had plenty of rain, I just don’t have a lot blooming right now.  I really need to bump up my late summer and fall flowers.
I do the these blue salvia that I enjoy every time I come and go.
And I planted a few impatience in my mineral feeder planter.
The Russian sage that I transplanted last year is doing well in its sunnier location.
And a couple off dahlias that I meant to dig up last fall but didn’t, managed to make it through the winter and are blooming pretty.   Maybe some more dahlias would be a good idea for next year.

Solo Ride

Sadie loves to make animal sounds and name everything she knows.  And one thing she knows really well is “horse”.  So today, when she was here and said “horse”, I took her to the barn and caught Otoelene.  I had already ridden once this morning for a couple of hours going up to the end of the gravel road.  I think Otoelene was a little confused that she was going out again.
But she took it all in stride.
Sadie is very good at petting the animals.
I showed her how to hold onto the horn, and off we went.

Since I was by myself with Sadie, she had to ride solo.  She did a great job.  I think she is a natural.

After a couple of laps by herself, I got on and we went for a little ride down the driveway.  We worked on saying a full sentence, “Meme, ride the horse.”  I might be creating a lot more work, but it is all good.

Bad For Sale Pictures

Male goat for sale on Craig’s List.
Joe asked if they took the pictures from the hayloft.
And just in case you needed an ever so slightly different angle to help you make the decision to spend $150.

When Did That Happen

Apparently, I don’t look up very often.  But I did a couple of days ago and saw….
this monstrosity.
It’s a gigantic hornet nest at the highest part of the house.
Now I have to figure out how to kill them, get the nest down, and clean the siding.   Not much extra work.
