Kit Kat and Otoelene

I did manage another ride on Otoelene. Just in the barn again. 

But I also cantered more. I can feel it in my back, not painful just stiff and I know it is there. She did fine. Maybe I will get outside next week 

Meanwhile, Kit is shedding up a storm. He doesn’t hear anymore so he is no longer scared by the vacuum. This was the first time that he let me use it on him. I think he likes it. 

 

Special Treat

I had some special visitors yesterday for Mother’s Day. 

Virginia and Mike brought Sadie and Allie over in the afternoon and stayed for dinner. Allie is a big fan of Kit Kat. 

But she is still scared of the dogs. Sadie isn’t though. She loves to feed and pet them.  We also watched the baby goats play and run around. 

And they both wanted to give Clyde some treats. 

 But the best part was them doing poop patrol in the barn where Draper is hanging out.  Nothing is too messy for a couple of princesses. 

25 Days Of Christmas, Day 15

Today I tried a photo shoot with Kit Kat.

First, I tried during the day.  He looks mad but he is actually very happy to be getting some attention.  He wasn't very good at staying still though.  

Then I practiced at night with a stand in.  It is a lot easier when the animal stays still.  

After multiple times of telling him to stay, scooting back, setting the camera, squatting down, just to have him get up and come over to be petted, I finally got a decent picture. 

This one wasn't too bad either.   I would like to try to photograph Sadie and Allie at the tree the next time they are here.  

As for Kit Kat,  I think he is done. 
 

This and That

Nothing major happening, just lots of little regular things. Some are more interesting than others. 

We have has some beautiful foggy mornings.  Then it has been in the 30’s for the last two mornings. I don’t think the weather knows that it is still officially summer. 

The goats are climbing trees. 

For some reason I get posts on Facebook from the Dull Men’s Club.  I thought this one was particularly funny.  Plus, it is a double collectable, both a face and a fence. 

I have been working on my rock garden some more. When I turned over a rock to bring it down the hill yesterday I found this black widow spider. I did had on gloves. But I did not let her live. 

 Then there is Kit Kat just because he is so handsome. 

Unexpected Visitor

Emily and Keiran came to visit for a couple of days. They left this morning after I had gone to work and Joe had left out for the day. On my way home from work I got a slightly panicked call from Joe. When he had gotten home the walk through garage door was open and the door from the garage to the house was open. When Joe stepped into the house, whoosh, the stray tom cat that has been hanging around occasionally ran out of the laundry room and into the house. Joe went on a cat hunt and found Kit Kat upstairs on a bed. But he could not find the stray. 

When I got home I joined the hunt. I found him under the cedar chest in our bedroom.

Now, what to do with a wild cat in your house. 

I opened some windows hoping he would jump  out. 

But no, he just jumped everywhere else. 

He even tried to climb the bookshelves.  That's him on the 5th shelf up.   I told Joe to get the fishing net. His response was, “do we have a fishing net?”  He found it and I slithered under the bed where the cat was hunkered down. Joe waited on the other side of the bedroom door. 

I am a professional, don’t try this at home. I was able the get the hissing and spitting cat into the net and threw it (gently) out the window.  I spent the next two hours trying to rid the bedroom of tom cat odor.  Luckily, I have couponed for a wide variety of cleaners and air fresheners. 

Meanwhile, Kit was relaxing on the back porch. He has been grounded and banned

 from having anymore friends over. Emily and Keiran will get a lesson on how to close a door. 

And I may have to get rid of the doormat in the laundry room. Looks like the whole thing could be my fault. 

 

Three Random Things And A Kat

I have 3 maybe 4 random things that I combined into one. 

A brake drum,

A cedar stump,

And a piece of glass from an old table. I ended up not using that but instead used the glass from an old television from the 40’s. Don’t ask why I even had that. 

After cleaning up the stump and sealing it with linseed oil, I attached it to the brake drum. 

I tried the table glass first, but I thought something clear would work better than the textured glass. 

I like being able to see the stump through the glass. 

I love the view to the outside but I think Kit Kat likes the view to the inside. 

 

Outdoors With Allie And Kit

Allie was sick last weekend and got upset she wasn't able to come to my birthday dinner.  So I told Virginia I could keep her some Saturday since Sadie wasn't feeling the best.  The weather wasn't too bad so we had some outdoor play time.  

Sadie and Allie both love playing with the ribbon toy Matt got them. 

Then we played ball.  

She wanted Kit Kat to play but he was not interested.  

But Allie did get PopPop to play. 

I think we made up for missing the dinner.  She said she had fun playing at Mimi's house. 
 

New Game

Allie has gone back to day care but Sadie is out of school until Monday so I was going to keep her this afternoon.  But then Sadie wanted to spend the night, yay!  It was pretty cold outside so I invented a new indoor game.

Bad Balloon or Ballon Minton.  Sadie preferred bad balloon.  Hence, there was a lot of ballon spanking. 

I thought it was really good for hand eye coordination.  We managed to not even break anything.

And Joe even got involved. 

Sadie is always concerned about Kit Kat’s happiness.  She is definitely an animal lover.

For supper she wanted a salad and pizza.  But after eating a large salad she said she was too full for the pizza.  We watched a couple of episodes of The Unicorn Academy, took a bath and read a few more chapters of Charlotte’s Web before bedtime.  Now I need to figure out what to do tomorrow. 

 

Kit Kat And The Grabber

I am strictly sticking to the rules, no bending, lifting or twisting. This means I cannot pick up anything off of the floor because I cannot bend over. Therefore, I keep a grabber handy everywhere I go. Poor Kit Kat is at floor level. So he has been getting very little attention lately. 

That is until I discovered he seems to like being petted with the grabber.

So the grabber it is 

Until I am allowed to bend again.
 

Leaves, Kit Kat, S’mores

The leaves all dropped off the red maple.  I raked them up Saturday and told Virginia I had a big pile of leaves.  

She brought Sadie and Allie over Sunday to play in them.

I had just planted a new azalea that I got at Lowe’s on clearance. Sadie gasped when she saw it and was surprised that it was blooming.  She asked if I had seen it as she grabbed a branch and picked it.  I said yes, I had seen it, I had just planted it!  She handed me the flower and said it was for Gigi.

Then back to the leaves.

Allie helped bury Sadie.

The leaves sticking all over didn’t bother her at all.

Then Kit Kat showed up.  He had no idea what was in store.

But once he found out, he didn’t like it.

But he did tolerate it.

He has got to be the best cat ever.

Then we started up the fire pit and made s’mores!  Not sure what this pose is but she was showing off how sticky her hands were after eating her s’more.
