Coupon Saturday #45

I had a pretty good Saturday with Dollar General.
I had a Coke senario worked out with the Coke being 3/$10.  But when I got there it was on sale 3/$8.  So I had to do a slight adjustment.  $6.50 plus tax.  Then I also got $1.1 back from Fetch so $5.40, even better.
This one was a little upsetting.  I had a $3 digital for the pink razors and two paper $2 ones for the black razors.  One of the paper attached to the pink razors which left no coupon for the black one.  So, what should have been 25 cents ended up being $3.25.  But since I have had so many good successes I just sucked it up and paid.  Then I found that the Snuggle had $2 back on Ibotta, so not a total failure.
Then I saved the best for last.  Hot Chocolate is $1.85.  So what did I pay for all of this?  80 cents plus tax.  I love getting what I want cheaper and lots of free stuff.  Very fun hobby.

Just Kit Sunday #159

Kit is getting to be quite the pro at modeling.
He knows all the poses and that attitude look.
 full face,
 right side,
 left side,
and closeup.  I think he is ready for the big time.

Coneflowers and Cauliflower

My coneflowers are starting to bloom.  A couple of times Japanese beetles have eaten the pedals before they bloomed.  It was a pitiful sight.
I usually focus on the mature flower.
 They are pretty stunning.
But the early stages are just as interesting.
 Watching how they grow,
 and change
 then get some color,
 and then become a flower.
Sometimes the journey is as interesting as the destination.
On to cauliflower.  My broccoli cage worked wonderfully.  No bugs and enough sun filtration to grow some beautiful heads of cauliflower.
I found a recipe for roasted cauliflower and it was delicious.  I will probably freeze these two for enjoyment later.

Another One

I saw another snake on my recent ride on Otoelene.  This one was pretty close to the house.
 She was oblivious.
 Then it decided to move.
That finally got Otoelene to notice it but she definitely was not concerned about it.
The only rearing was from the snake.

Heavy Metal, Nice Ride

J bought a new to us tractor, Kubota 7060 with 161 hours.
I think this one is just my size, but I might have to get a different outfit to not clash with the orange.  This one is going to be headed to our new farm as soon as we close on it.
Then I went riding on Otoelene, still trying to exercise the weight off of her or at least keep her from gaining more.  Can you tell I enjoy finding an open gate?
Just thought this was a nice view on my ride.  I liked all of the blooming Viper's bugloss.
When I rode through the cows I ran across the calf nursery.  I like when I find a lot of calve together with just one or two cows watching.  Makes me think of calf daycare.

In Bloom At The 4Rs

With rain and temperatures in the 50's, it's a little hard to get excited about summer flowers blooming, but here they are anyway.
In my salvaged upside down salt feeder I set out some clearance flowers.  The mandevilla vine wasn't in bloom, but for $5 I was willing to take a chance on the color.  It turned out pink, perfect!
The lupine I got from Mary at work is pink too.  Very excited about that.
The Stella d'oro daylilies are in full bloom,
as well as all my different varieties of
 Blue Speedwell.
The sundrops from grandma are pretty, but much brighter looking when not weighted down with rain.
The purple clematis makes a nice contrast with the sundrops in the background.
I thought the coral bells got damaged with the late freeze, but it looks like they have come out ok after all.  Now, back to work on those stairs.

Just Kit Sunday #158

A massive undertaking has begun, a rock stairway.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been gradually hauling the biggest rocks I could manage down the hill and to the yard.  I think J was feeling a little sorry for me and has started to help.  That means I can get even bigger rocks.
Now for the digging, placing and leveling.
Kit came by to check things out.  He went up,
 and down.
Then sat pretty for a bit.
About 1/3 of the way done.  Anyone want to come look for rocks?

A Few More Beach Finds

I am back home and back at work but wanted to share a little more of my beach retreat.
It was overcast most days but I did get a sunrise shot.
For some reason, there were lots of jelly fish that had washed up on shore.  Luckily, I didn't run into any in the water.
 And then my favorite,
finding my faces with all their different expressions.

until next time...

Amazing Find

Guess where I am, yes the beach!
I don’t know what got into J, but he said he would stay home and take care of things and I could go to the beach.  So off I went.   But with no one else here, I have pretty much just been out strolling and enjoying looking for shark teeth.
And look what I found this morning, the biggest tooth I have ever found.   So the back story, you never know what you will be doing right before you look down and there it is.  I still pretend that I can run fast.  So, sometimes, when the beach is wide open and there is no one else around, I will do some 50 or 100 yard sprints.  I had taken off on one of these sprints, between the ocean and a trough of water on a sort of sand bar.  I thought the sand was hard, and it was to start with.  I was at my top speed (which in my mind is really fast) and thinking I can do this for the full 100 yards, when I hit soft sand. My foot sunk and I fell to my knees.  My first check, yes my back is ok.  Second check, no one close to have witnessed that embarrassment. I washed the sand off and headed to the beach side of the water trough, looked down and saw “the tooth”.
I am up to 64 teeth so far.
And a bunch of see glass and a couple of faces.
