Keeping Tuned Up

With the bad weather and the increase in farm chores, e.g.  feeding, J hasn't been able to ride Brother much.
I think it had been about 2 weeks since he last rode and J wasn't wanting to see Brother back slide any.
So earlier this week he took some time to ride with me.
Brother was a little bit of a handful on the ground but once saddled up he went right to work.
He has such a quite manner and an unbelievably consistent head set for not even really trying.  Too bad J isn't interested in showing western pleasure.  I think he has a great prospect.

Happy Birthday E

We celebrated E's birthday earlier this week with a steak dinner and chocolate cake.
She ended up getting tickled about something and didn't get all of her candles blown out.
She has taken over the dining room table for all of her school work and requested a comfortable chair.
So that, in combination with the Microsoft Word program for her lap top, maybe has freed her from my computer totally.
Happy Brithday E!

The Shop

The shop finally got used as a shop yesterday.  Although, J did ask if he could use the "tack room" to work on the tractor.  So I guess I have a really big tack room and  not a shop.
Anyway, the tractor dealership sent over a mechanic yet again to work on the tractor.
So far they have had to work on the brakes 3 or 4 times before completely redoing them, fix a stuck door, replace all of the hoses that any diesel fuel has gone through and yesterday replaced 2 seals at the fuel tank.  We are beginning to feel like we got a lemon.

Saddle Club Christmas Party

Our Saddle Club always has a Secret  Santa gift exchange at our Christmas Dinner.  The gift limit is $10 and there are usually some very nice things.
After a few trades J ended up with a remote control lantern.  It puts out a lot of light and will be great on our next camping trip.
I, on the other hand, had the misfortune of drawing #1 and picked out a tree very similar to this one (minus the ornaments).  Notice I said similar because I don't currently have such a nice tree to take a picture of.   Well, being #1 at a horse party you can imagine that I didn't keep it long.  There was quite a bit of trading and I had it back until the last round when it was viciously stolen from me.
I ended up with the last wrapped present, a horse night light.  Not the same.
I guess I made enough of a scene that the ones that brought the tree promised to make me one if I bring them the shoes.  Now that's a deal.
Everyone watch out for a night light at the next Secret Santa.

Just Kit Sunday #31

I got Emma a new bed from Tractor Supply on Black Friday.  It's pretty fancy with a removable, washable outer cover and ceder chips sprinkled in a pillow type filling.   Well, let me rephrase that, I got Emma her first real bed.  She mostly lays on rugs and porch cushions, but since she is getting older I thought I would try to spoil her a little more.
Only problem is that Kit doesn't seem to realize that it's Emma's bed.  Maybe he's just keeping it warm for her until she comes back in from her farm chores.

Let the Decorating Begin!

J and I picked out a tree today.  We got it at a near by tree farm and had it freshly cut.  Thought it would be nice to get it up before the bad weather started.
E and I got it into the house and set up and E put the lights on.  My 14 year old star finally gave out so I will be tree topper shopping.  Ready, set, DECORATE!
