At The Feeder

The weather has taken a turn for the worse, cold, windy and a little snow.
The birds have really been taking advantage of the feeders in the yard.

I haven’t seen any new species yet but I have gotten a little better at taking pictures through the window.  This little chickadee stayed still long enough to focus.
The nuthatch was very busy.
The house finches love the sunflower seeds.
I think this is a yellow rumped warbler without a yellow rump.  I have asked Emily but haven’t heard back yet.  This bird watching is a lot of work.

Farm Fresh Eggs!

One of the vet techs at the clinic has chickens.  She offered me some eggs because she is having a surplus. Of course I said YES!

Aren’t they beautiful.  I told her about a free cook book download called “Too Many Eggs.”  You can get that download HERE.
I hope she doesn’t find very many ways in the over 800 recipes to use her extra eggs, because I am really enjoying them.

Guest Photographer

Emily is on the island in Panama now.

I said it looked like paradise.  She said it could be if not for the heat and the chance of getting stung by various insects.

Apparently, there is a horse there that keeps getting out and likes to bite.
There are also howler monkeys.
A rufous-tailed hummingbird.
And the bird Emily is there to study, a lance-tailed manikin.

In Bloom At The 4Rs

I have really been enjoying our spring flowers.  The warm weather has sped up the blooming by about two weeks.  That is about to change, there is snow in the forecast for tomorrow.

Purple is Sadie’s favorite color and she was very drawn to the purple hyacinths.  Hope you enjoy the flowers as much as I do.

Couponing #82

As promised, my total clearance event haul.  Not included in the picture, a bag of cat food that I was needing.
Out of pocket was $41 but I got $26 back in rebates, so $15 total which was less than the bag of cat food.  So, everything was really just free.

Two Hour Ride

Yesterday Joe wanted to head up the gravel road to our farm we call Julian’s.
For this ride I decided to use Otoelene.  We rode past our new bull from Georgia.

We met a couple of cars on the gravel road but no one was driving crazy which was nice.
While we were at Julian’s Joe went ahead and fed the bulls there.

Uh oh, two cows are on the wrong side of the fence.
After driving the rouge cows out we rode down the fence line looking for the issue.  There were a couple of spots that needed some attention.
Hugo went along like a champ again.
And nothing phased Otoelene, not even the running, barking, jumping, Rhodesian ridgebacks.
Then to top off our ride, Joe picked up the mail.  Hugo might be ready for a trail class.

Sunday Ride

The weather was super nice Sunday. And who is that going for a ride outside?
That’s right, Draper!

And Joe with Hugo.

We did about an hour around the farm.
There is still plenty of mud.
And lots of hills to go up and down.
Draper got just a wee bit concerned when Joe took off across the creek.
We were not headed that direction, he just wanted to show off with Hugo.
And so far, riding Hugh through the cows has not been a problem.  Nice day, nice ride.
