Six

My brother has season tickets for a Broadway musical series.  Unfortunately for him, he was out of town on a missionary trip to Africa during one of the shows.  To not let the ticket go to waste, I went.
The seats were great, second row, section right,  on the aisle. My sister A let me have the aisle seat.
Six is a musical about the six wives of Henry the 8th.  Although I felt it was more of a theatrical concert with a bit of a story line.  I did fine myself wishing there was closed captions because I had a hard time understanding some of the lyrics.  But I was glad I had my ear plugs, they made listening more pleasant.

The theater holds 3000 and it looked like it was sold out. I had a fun evening with a change of pace and a great visit with sister A.

Wildlife Brush Pile

Emily has been suggesting that we make our farm more wildlife friendly.  With the goats eating all of the brush there isn’t a whole lot of cover.  I asked Emily to send me a link on constructing a wildlife brush pile.  The link she sent had a lot of reading so I just googled photos and went by that.  After looking at a few pictures this is what I ended up constructing.

I think it turned out great.  Although it will probably only attract coyotes.  But I can always have a nice bonfire if I don’t like it later.

The cows were looking at me like I was crazy.
They are probably just waiting until I leave so they can rub it down and poop on it.

More Trees On Fences

Yet another tree has fallen across a fence.  I don’t know how it is possible that we have any more trees next to a fence with the number that have fallen recently.  This one was an ash tree killed by the emerald ash borer.  It was in a rough area so I went with Joe to help.
I forgot my camera but this is basically the same as a picture - a big tree flattening an American wire property line fence with a huge bramble of multi flora rose bushes on the other side because the neighbor doesn’t have goats to eat them.  Then Joe fighting through the briars to get the chainsaw in position to cut the big trunk.  You may not be able to tell from the picture but it was also on a steep hill, like most of our farm, and next to a creek.  There are three more trees close by leaning the same way so I’m sure we will be here again soon.

Selling The Billies

The second kid crop from our Savannan/Kiko cross Billie’s is due to start arriving next month. We didn’t want to use them for a third time so it was time to sell them.

Last week we sold one to a man at church that has a few goats. He came to look at the two with a trailer in tow so we thought there was a good chance one would be leaving.
Then to not have to deal with facebook or Craig lists inquiries we decided to sell the other one through the Local sheep and goat club.  They had a shipment heading to Pennsylvania for the sale today.  Club members can sign up and bring their sheep and goats to share a trailer.  There are usually all manner of hauling contraptions.

I showed up with the billy in a dog crate.

Everyone else had a trailer of some sort.  I saw one license plate that said BAHH.  Hopefully he had a good trip.  With Easter coming up hopefully we will get a good price.

Weekend Clearance Event, Couponing #86

I have had a very successful Dollar General clearance event so far.
The manager of my closest DG talked me into two of these butterfly chairs. Regular price $40, clearance for $10.  I think Sadie and Allie will enjoy these at Christmas.  Virginia said she always wanted one growing up.  Now she will have two.
My biggest finds were 50 penny items!  Party supplies, vitamins, balloons, and Karo syrup.  Not really sure what I am going to do with all the syrup.
When I subtract out what I would have bought anyway like bread and chips, I think I spent $15 not counting the chairs.  That includes $9 for a $22 nonstick pan.
I bought some craft supplies.
Sadie and Allie will be busy.

And these gift sets were 25 cents each.  I couldn’t believe they were still at the store for me to pick up.  Ironically, I passed up some totes because I told myself I needed to get rid of stuff not find more ways to store it. Check your local Dollar Generals, the clearance event ends tomorrow.

Seen On A Walk

I went on a walk yesterday evening and caught this little one in a photograph position.
I love the clouds behind her.
And how she looks like she is in such a rugged landscape.  Always take a camera, you never know what you will run across.
