Coupon Saturday #55

I have the best reason in the world to coupon now.

(It says "Too Cute to Pinch")

Little babies need lots of diapers.  I found out V was paying about 25 cents per diaper.  I was sure I could do better than that.
123 diapers total, plus some razors and puppy food to round out the scenario.
And I know $7.80 seems like a lot for my usual couponing but there was also $6 back on another couponing app Ibotta.  So that brought it down to $1.80.  Less than 2 cents per diaper!
And then just because I could, and J wanted some dark chocolate, I did this one.
minus 10 cents, not too shabby.

Just Kit Sunday #165

Kit had to inspect the new artwork that appeared in the yard.
He approached bravely.
Looked around
and went around.

Grapevine Project

My grapevine has finally made it all the way across the pergola.  But it is now time to prune it.
I don't think I have been pruning it back hard enough because we just get little grapes.
I still probably haven't taken enough off but it is more that usual I think.
Now what to do with all the vines.  I normally just haul them off and dump them with the other yard waste.  But this year I decided to try something different.

I saw this magical arrangement on Pinterest and thought I would give it a try.  Apparently, an artist in a French forest made this and many more natural sculptures.  This is the link HERE

So I laid out the vines and started weaving,
and twisting, and braiding,
until I had used up all my vines.  I thought about going into the woods and cutting down more, but I didn't like the idea of the extra work.  So I decided to just go with what I have and maybe add to it next year.

Not quite as magical but I like it.  I think it will look more substantial if I can beef it up next year.  Or maybe I will head to the woods after all.

Big Move

I have been wanting to transplant my ponytail palm for some time now.  The last time I did, I told J that it would be the last time.  But I have tired of the galvanized tub in which it resides.
I have been on the search for a new pot but everything on line was $200 plus, and there was never anything suitable locally.
That is until I went Christmas shopping at Ollies and found this beauty.  It was the only one, they had leftover Halloween stuff in it and there was no price.  The cashier called the manager and they agreed to sell it for $50.  SCORE!  It took 3 associates (all be it it scrawny girls) to help me load it up.  Then I needed a way to move it around because it would definably have to move for the Christmas tree.  I bought 5 caster wheels, cut a circle out of plywood and made it a dolly.
Then I decided I wasn't happy with the blue color.  Nothing in the room is blue and I didn't like the blue with the green plant.  I tested out different options and decided to decoupage it in tissue paper.
Several layers later, I had a white pot.

I told J again, this would be the last time he had to carry it.
Now to get it in the other pot.
It made a bit of a mess.
But I think it turned out fine.

Hank Is At It Again

Hank introduced 2 new people to the joys of the horse world yesterday.
And the first one was Granddaughter S!  It was finally nice enough weather to take her out some.
I don't know who was happier, S or dad M.  Well, I do know it was dad, but S will get there.

V and M had come to the house to move a massive piece of furniture for me.  They brought along another couple to help.  It has been sitting in my front hall for 3 months now.  I thought it would go upstairs but it just barely made it into the house.  We have been waiting on good weather and strong help to move it back out.  It all worked out yesterday and I have my front hall back, thank you.

As payment, I saddled up Hank and let Jack take a ride.  He said he had been on a few rouge horses before, ones that took off, bucked or you had to jump off of.  So a safe horse and safe barn was a big help.  Jack was thrilled with Hank.  He kept looking at his wife and saying, "We need a horse."
He was even cantering in no time.  He said he could see how this could become an addiction.  Jack did ask a very insightful question, "if you started with a trained horse could someone that didn't know anything mess it up?"  I said, yes, in about 10 minutes.

Coupon Saturday #54

Even after packing everyone's stockings at Christmas, and donating a big box of personal hygiene products to a local church, my stockpile is still overflowing. So I decided to ignore Dollar General for the month of February.  I did great until this last weekend when there was a clearance event.  Those are just too hard to pass up.  Or, I'm addicted.  Either way, I did get a few good deals.
I was almost out of Christmas M&Ms so I spent about $5 on $12 worth of them.  Of course, everything else was free.
Vanilla extract, normally $4.35 but I paid $1.39 and got everything else free.
And lastly, I found 8 penny items!
Dollar General Penny Items are items that have clearanced out. This means they have already gone the lowest they are supposed to go (90% off) and are supposed to be removed from the shelves. When the Dollar General employees do not remove the items from the shelves and you find them, they will ring up just 1 penny!

No Man's Land

Or I could title this post, "Repairs and Maintenance #897."  J referred to this section of the farm today as No Man's Land.
There is no driving to it.  There is nothing but a steep, rocky hill down to a swamp then the creek.
And the dead tree the water gap was attached to fell over.  J was going to be turning the cows into this field and didn't want them wandering through the down fence to the next field.
Did I mention the steep, rocky hill and having to carry all of the fencing supplies down then back up.  (definitely on the list of Farmercising)
But after all the fussing and complaining, I think J managed to get some wire up that should turn the cows, at least until the next flood takes it out again.
