Violet Saturday

I'm going to call it purple.  The weather was beautiful today.  High in the 70's.  We spent all afternoon outside working with the animals.  E used the purple halter for Pep.

I lunged Thumper with the purple lunge line for a few minutes before I got on.
I love my purple yard ornament. (taken earlier in the week)
J's hat definitely has a purple hue.  We caught all of the show cattle today.  J lead them all then tied them up for the girls to brush.

Blue Friday

Continuing with The Little Red Hen's Color week,

We are having this section of fence replaced soon.  The fence builder marked it with blue tape.

The sky was a beautiful shade of blue.
I got to drive our blue Ford tractor today for a project Scooter will appreciate.  I'll explain in a later post.

Green Thursday

I found some green patches of grass next to patches of snow.

There is a large green light panel on the side of our barn.
J bought several green gate for the farm.  We haven't had a chance to hang them yet.
Update on past contests.  V's stockman's team was 6th out of 25 and she was 22nd out of 85.

The B&B contest E managed to switch 2 cards so they counted them for the wrong classes.  If she had turned them in for the classes she had marked on the cards she would have tied for 1st.

I don't know how to stress more the importance of marking the cards right.  I guess this will be a painful way to learn the lesson.

Yellow Wednesday

This is the only natural yellow I could find outside this week.  I feel certain that by this weekend, when it is suppose to get into the 70's, it will bloom.

When we built our house and had the yard graded, our well ended up with a little damage.  I patched it with duct tape 9 years ago.
A line of telephone poles crosses our farm.  The support wires are guarded with yellow plastic to keep the cattle from rubbing on them.
And finally, E's show heifer has a yellow ear tag.

Orange Tuesday

I thought orange was going to be a little trickier than red, but once I started looking it was everywhere.  E's steer's ear tag is orange.

Also, the handle to our electric goat gate is orange.
I found this rock covered with orange lichen when I was checking on the horses.
And our feed troughs and several gates have a coat of orange paint.
Let's find some yellow tomorrow.

Red Monday

Continuing with the color theme today is Red Monday.

Our farm truck shows up good against the snow.
Of course I had to have a red Hereford.
When I went out to take the picture of the Hereford, I couldn't help but notice the beautiful red sunset.  What a wonderful day for red outside.

Rainbow Sunday

My friend at   The Little Red Hen  is wanting a week of color starting with Rainbow Sunday.  It was a little challenging finding a rainbow of color outside while it was snowing but I managed.  This is at a new store at the 4 way.  The building is just a little bigger than a phone booth.  I haven't gone in yet to see what's in there.  Maybe I'll stop sometime other than to just take a picture.

The snow accumulation is about 4 inches so far.  This is the most all season.  I'm sure there will be no school tomorrow.
