Second Season?

With the weather turning colder and a chance of frost coming up soon, I took a look in the garden for anything useful.
I found this gourd vine that had volunteered over the fence where I throw scraps.
It was running and blooming full force.
I might get one little gourd off of it.
Apparently, I didn't harvest my beans in a timely manner.  I have several plant that have come up near the original rows.  They too are in full bloom.
Then I found this cucumber coming up under some tommy toe plants.  Can you believe, blooming with a little cucumber on it.  I am not holding out much hope for a second season though.

Tingleys

With all this wet weather, my overboots have been getting a workout.  I commented to J that I think I like my Tingleys better than my Muckboots.  He said those aren't real Tingleys just imitations.
How do you know that I asked?  He said Tingleys have a big rubber button not metal snaps.   Well, it just so happened that I had a box of  "new" Tingleys.
J said that Tingleys don't come in that kind of box.  I beg to differ because it clearly says Tingley on the box.
Granted, at $6.50 this may be a pretty old box.
And what do you know, a big rubber button.  J was right as usual.
But maybe they have been in the box a little too long.  The back split open when I tried to put them on.  Sometimes it doesn't pay to save things.   But I do think I will keep the box.

Just Kit Sunday #139

I had a special request for a Kit Kat Sunday.  It has been a while and I am told he is missed.  But since he sleeps most of the day and is out hunting all night, it is tough to get in a photo shoot.
I had to wake him up from a nap.
Then I hid behind some bushes hoping he would stay still.
But no, there was no fooling him and he strolled on over.   A little more repositioning and I finally got a pose.
Happy Kit Kat Sunday.

Coupon Saturday #20

It was a very busy week of couponing.  Monday Dollar General came out with a $2 off purchase of $10 that was good for 2 days only.  Since I had to work Tuesday and would be in town anyway, I came up with a few scenarios to try.  I have 4 accounts now because my mother and one sister have given me "Power of Couponing" for them.
First deal was a combo of paper and digital coupons,  3 cents plus tax.
I had bought those Fabreeze plug ins last week, but didn't have the plug.  I found out the coupon worked on the plugs too.  45 cents plus tax.
Then there was a good deal on Halloween candy, on sale B2G1 free.  Plus there was a digital for 2 off 10 specifically for halloween candy, then the regular 2 off 10 and I had a paper coupon for $2 off the purchase of 3 bags of Mars candy.  The regular price was $5 each x 3 = 15-2-2-2-5 = $4 for the 3 bags.  This was only 3 accounts but I thought I would stop while I was ahead.  And a good thing I saved some of the good coupons because....
On Wednesday I saw where a new coupon for Rachael Ray wet dog food was giving $1.10 overage on a tub of food.  I quickly clipping the digital on 3 accounts but was going to do it on the 4th one the next day.  But the next day the coupon was gone, NLA (no longer available).  The 3 I had already clipped were still there and still working to give overage.  So if they are going to pay you to take stuff out of the store, why not.  Total above 15 cents plus tax.
Then there was also a clearance event this weekend (still going on) that was and additional 50% off clearance prices.  So those Febreze warmers marked $4.50 were $2.25 each and there was a $5 off 2 digital coupon which gave me another 50 cents of overage to work with.  Total here was -20 cents but that tax made me pay 43 cents.
Then with my last dog food I bought a new hose sprayer since my last one just decentagrated.  Lawn and garden was 40% off then and extra 50% off that, so with my dog food I only paid 70 cents plus tax.
Ok, last one.  This was at Family Dollar.  I don't coupon there much because their 5off25 is after all coupons, unless... it is all digital.  Makes it a little harder to get the really good deals.  They have started a thing on the app where you get a spin for a random store wide coupon.  I got a $3 off purchase of $15.  I thought it might be easier to come up with $15 worth of stuff instead of $25.  And looky there,  those Febreeze plugs were on clearance for $2.63 and yes, there was the same 5 off 2 coupon.  I bought things I had good coupons for then filled in the rest with the Oreos and hot chocolate.  Total $3.26 plus tax.  I like to look at is as I paid for the cookies and got everything else free.
I think total savings for the week, $69 total spent $11.32 that is including all tax.  So pretty much bought the candy (sale price) and got everything else FREE. May little shelf area is now overflowing, I might need a new hobby.

I HATE Coyotes

The goats have gotten where they will just not stay together.  Therefore, the dogs have more territory to guard than they can manage.
Last week 3 of the bottle goats came up missing.  Three that I had saved, nursed to health, fed and cared for, gone.  Then a couple of nights later we heard the coyotes just in front of the house.  The next morning, another dead goat.
We have tried to put them together at night only to have them go in 5 different directions the next day.  Then last night we heard them again.
J found this baby goat up on the hill today, chewed up around her head and neck.  One of the worst wounds was a deep puncture on her lower back.  It may have damaged her spinal cord.  She does not have good control of her back legs now.
I clipped and cleaned her wounds, started her on an antibiotic, gave her pain medicine, anti inflammatories and started her on IV fluids for shock.  I thought I might give her 24 hours to see if she shows any improvement.  If not, I will most likely have to euthanize her.
I hate coyotes.

Dreadful Cattle For Sale Pictures

J was scrolling through Craig's List and suggested I start a new feature with some really dreadful cattle for sale pictures.
His first comment was, "how wild are they?"
Really, you can post up to 24 pictures with each Craig's List entry, but as you can see more doesn't always mean better.
I kept scrolling back and forth saying, "aren't they just repeating the same three pictures?"
J assured me they were all subtly different.
Maybe I could create a game of how many differences do you see like they use to have in Highlights Magazines.

By the way, they are wanting $7500 for 1 bull and 7 heifers.  Glad they told us, because you sure can't tell by looking.

Coupon Saturday #19

I just couldn't help myself this week.  I had some coupons that made stuff almost free, so off I went.
The Febreeze plugins were $5 each and the Ponds were $1.50 but I paid $2.00 with a combination of digital coupons, paper coupons and instant savings.
Then I had a $1 off purchase for a new account at DG that expired Friday, so I couldn't let that go to waste.
Palmolive $2.75 - $2 digital
Bic            $3.00- $3 digital
Degree      $2.50 - $2 digital
Finish       $1.00 - $1 paper
Dial          $1.00 - $1 internet printable
then minus $1  new account...
25 cents plus tax.
