Forsythia Massacre

Or maybe I should say Tough Love. 

 I use to prune them by just cutting out 1/3 of the branches but they got to tough to prune after a couple of years.

 Then someone with forsythias that I admired said they just cut them to the ground after they finished blooming so that's what I started doing.  It was scary the first time I did it but the results were worth it.

I never have like when people try to prune them to a shape.  I much prefer the natural look.
