Couponing #63

I had to break down and buy some TP.  There usually isn't a very good deal on it or if there is it is out of stock.  So I planned on just going ahead and paying for it.

And if I am buying something that costs $6.75, of course I have to add enough so I get my $5 off $25.

And I managed, before taxes, to get the TP for less! Plus, I actually got some things I could use, tissues, relish, Dawn and Fritos for FREE!
 

Kit Kat Sunday #175

I got to keep Baby S again today!!!

Kit Kat likes to come to the kitchen door to be let into the garage to get to his food bowl. 

Today, he was probably thankful to have a strong glass door in place. 

And yes, I did let her play with him, I just didn't get a picture of that.  His really is a good cat.
 

Bad Horse For Sale Pictures #36

It seems like no one puts any effort into marketing anymore.

I can see it's a young horse and even with the obstacles the legs do look surprisingly nice.  But the head is somewhat hidden in this shot.  Not to worry, the seller thought of that too. 

And gave us a nice close up of the head.  
 

Second And Third Groups Weaned

We weaned the first group from our rented farm last week.  No pictures and no problems.  J got them up on his own, I helped sort and we hauled them home in two loads. 

Saturday, we had some awesome help weaning the second group.  Baby S was still with us.  J had already gotten the cattle up and had sorted out a load to bring back to the house.  So all Baby S and I had to do was watch him load the trailer. 

I hope Baby S didn't hear too many bad words.  Sometime J gets a little put out with the cattle.  

But I think Baby S was more interested in the lichen growing on the fence than in J's outbursts.  Anyway, she only had to help with one load before Daddy M showed up to replace me.  

Then today was the big day.  Getting the cattle up and weaning the ones here at the house.  No pictures of the getting up process because it involved entirely too much running.  We started in the far hay field.  There was too much grass and they didn't want to leave.  Lots of running back and forth and up the hill and down before we finally convinced them to go through the gate.  Then through the hollow to the field behind the house.  There was too much grass and they didn't want to leave.  I finally had to take off my coat and start running around flapping it like a mad woman.  J might have them too tame. 

We finally got them caught, sorted the cows off and dewormed them.  Then dewormed the calves and turned them back out the the field behind the house.  J took the opportunity to count everything.  And his counts came out to what he thought they should, Yay!

Then we turned the cows out and drove them over to the adjoining field for fence line weaning.

Glad it is winter and the windows are closed because there is a lot of bawling going on out there.  At least the weather has been dry and  they shouldn't tear up the ground too much.  
 

Wonderful Day

We have been blessed with Baby S since Thursday night!

Yesterday the weather was beautiful, so I took her for a little outing on the farm.  

First, we went to the barn to turn Trouble out.  She has been in the dog pen in the barn since breaking her leg a month ago.  I decided it was time to put her back with the herd.  

But first she had to pass Baby S inspection. 

Then there was some running and jumping to catch up on.  

And she immediately found her friend Tribble. 

Then Baby S had to pass the dog inspections. 

Maggie decided do pose for some fall pictures.  

I'm pretty sure she ended up with a little finger up her nose.  

Once I got back to the yard I put her down in the grass.  She really loves to inspect the leaves.  

And she has no fear of the dogs at all.  

She even wanted to share her leaf.

What a wonderful day. 
 

It's A Wrap

It looks like I have too much time on my hands.  Or else, I am not organizing my priorities properly.  Anyway, I decided to try to make my Secrete Santa and White Elephant gifts a little more special.

First, I did an origami Christmas tree.

I then hot glued some fringe down then glued the tree on top of that.  Pretty cool bow if I do say so myself. 

Then I had some scrap things that fell off a wreath that was being thrown out (not by me). 

A little more hot glue and voila', another sort of bow.   
 

And So It Begins

With a wonderful Thanksgiving under the belt (pun intended) it is time to move on to Christmas.  And as always the first up...

Santa's Mail.  No one comes to the front door so I just hang it on the inside so I can enjoy it.  This afternoon J wasn't doing anything and asked what he could do for me.  I said, "get me a Christmas tree."  The place we have been getting trees from for the last several years cut down all of their large trees last year because they had gotten wild and out of hand.  They were only selling a few 6 footers at the farmers market.  I was spoiled to getting any size tree for $25.  I checked a tree lot yesterday and found they were selling 8-9 foot trees for $65-$70.  

So J took matters and ax into his own hands and cut down a cedar off the farm we rent.  It has been a long time since we had a cedar tree and he said he had been wanting one.  

It started out about 14 feet tall (after cutting). 

And I whittled it down to about 9 1/2 feet.  It's a little Griswoldy there at the top but I'm sure the star will disguise that.  Let the decorating begin!
