Reinforcements

After working 100 head by ourselves last week, J and I decided to call in reinforcements to work the fall calving cows and calves.  M and V were on the top of the list and came to help out.
Once again, J had done all the prep work to make the job as easy as possible.  He had already gotten the cattle up into the lot next to the barn lot.  So it was just a matter of driving them on in.
Then sorting the cows from the calves.
We ran the cows down the chute 4 at a time to vaccinate and deworm.
Then it was the calves' turn.
 V loaded the ear taggers
and did some of the tagging.  I vaccinated,
M brought the calves down the chute, held the bull calves and J castrated them.
Once they were all processed, it was back out to mama.  Then it was lunch at the Dutch Pantry. a nearby Minionite deli and store.  Very tasty.

I know that M and V are a huge help. Good work all.

That looks like a pretty slick and easy system to get all that done.

Did you perhaps mean 'Mennonite'? Mennonite Girls Can Cook website is an excellent resource for authentic Mennonite (& other) recipes.
