From The Driveway

I was hauling brush down the driveway with the 4 wheeler, when I spied what looked like a rock.
But as I got closer I saw that it was a turtle.
It was a very cute box turtle. I set him off to the side so Joe wouldn’t hit him when he came in.
Then this evening Joe and I went for a walk and caught sight of this pretty doe.

Little Thief

I was heading out to feed the dogs when I noticed a tomato in an odd place.
There was a half eaten tommy toe on a fence post in my flower bed.
The garden is on the other side of the tall trees.  Some little critter, most likely a chipmunk,  went through a lot of effort to find just the right al fresco dining spot.

Splints Are Off

It had been about 2 weeks since I put a splint on this ones right rear leg.
I took it off last week and left him in the dog pen a few more days.  Since the other kid's broken leg happened a few days after this one I left his on until this weekend.
Both are doing great and have been turned back out with the other 2 bottle goats.  Now they can pick what they want to eat outside and Joe and I don't have to forage for them anymore.  They are all eating a lot of grain too.  Maybe one of these days they will start to look like they are actually growing.
Just wanted to share a pretty sunset too.

Couponing #87

There was another clearance event this weekend at Dollar General.  There wasn’t anything special that I wanted and very few good coupon matchups.  I ended up just doing one scenario.  But this time there was a $10 off $40, so I had to come up with $15 more.
This is what I ended up with, plus a loaf of bread. Not all items were clearance.  Some just had good coupons.
I was excited to find the wet jet.  I don’t have one but I have a lot of the cleaning solution refills.  I will be interested to see how well it works.

I didn’t think $4.26 plus tax was too bad.  But then, by the time I got cash back on the app, cash back from Shopmium, and cash back from Fetch, it was all free. I may have even made 15 cents.

Confirmation

I had my equine vet friend come check Draper again.
I wanted to confirm her pregnancy before starting the prenatal vaccine and deworming schedule.  Plus, if she wasn’t pregnant there would still maybe be time to try again this year.
And great news!  She is confirmed pregnant.  (This may or may not be a picture of the foal.). She is almost 3 months along now.   Eight or so months left to go.
There was a request awhile back for more information on the stallion.  I got these pictures from his Facebook page.  I chose him because he was very close by, only 2 miles up the road,
and for his very laid back personality.  According to the owner, he passes this personality trait on to his offspring.  Calmness is much higher up on my list of wants than when I was younger.
He also seems to possess some athleticism.  The owner mostly trail rides but has shown some at local shows.  His offsprings are at an age now that they are being ridden and shown some.
And although not that“fancy” (not counting his color)  he does have pretty correct conformation.  I am hoping Draper will and the “fancy”.

Hugo's Outing

I took Hugo out for a ride a couple of days ago.
He still hasn't gotten any easier to catch.  But once caught has always fine to work with.
Joe had just bush hogged the riding ring so, of course I had to try it out.
Joe even showed up to take a couple of pictures.
Hugo did fine.  It was pretty wet, so we just trotted, no trying to canter.  He isn't the best at that anyway.  I think he has some gaited bloodlines and gets pretty pacey at the canter.
After finishing up in the arena, we did our loop around the gravel road and back up the driveway.  There was a little standoff with a couple of calves, but that didn't last long.  Another nice ride with Hugo.

Hunter/Jumper Heifers?

I had a bit of a surprise yesterday morning when I went to go outside.
There was a heifer grazing in the yard.
Not just one but three.  At least they stayed on the pathway through the flower bed.
Now we get to see how they got across the cattle guard.
I think they would excel at the water jump.
