Trip Picture Sunday #2

Still on day 3 we left the museum in Bismarck, ND and headed for the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
E had an audio book about Teddy Roosevelt called The River Of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey, that we had been listening to.  It was about his trip down an unexplored tributary of the Amazon that took place after his presidency.  A very exciting and suspenseful listen.  This got us even more interested in seeing the park.
We drove around the south loop with lots of stops for short walks, great views and some wildlife, like the prairie dog town.  There was a road closure so we really didn't do a loop, just out and back.
We saw a few wild horses,
And lots of buffalo.  I think these were a little more scruffy than what we were to see in Yellowstone.
And who doesn't love some mushroom cap formations.
The views of the Little Missouri River were stunning.
I tried to get E in my "togetherie" but she was looking elsewhere.
But I did find this face.

We left the park and entered the little tourist town of Medora and had a nice meal at the Boots Bar and Grill.
Then we headed on to Billings, Montana, 4 hours west to spend the night.

Sounds like you picked a good relevant book to accompany the trip - great idea.

Interesting creation of "togetherie" shots - I guess you are getting shots with your family without them knowing it or having to pose

Love the rock face.
