Today we worked the last of the spring calving cows, 51 cow/calf pairs.
It actually started yesterday with me riding Otoelene and J on foot, rounding them up and getting them in the field behind the house. Then this morning it was a smaller area to round up in and get to the barn. I still rode Otoelene and J was still on foot.
Three pairs cut out on us going 3 different directions, so another lap around the field to get those in. Otoelene was a dream and we even cut 8 yearlings out of the group in the barn lot. I'm sure she would excel as a feed lot horse.
M came and was a tremendous help.
And can you see the treat in the background?
V brought little SR for a visit. She really brightened up the work.
We were done by lunch and then had a wonderful visit. J even strapped on the carrier and took a walk down to the mailbox. V said she thinks it was SR's happiest day ever. She was too busy to even fuss any.

A treat indeed. I love the picture of J and SR ready for a walk down to the mailbox. And hearing this was "SR's happiest day ever" had to make everyone smile.
Horses and babies- yup a good day!
