This Year’s Billies

It use to be that billy goats were for sale all over the place.  They seem to be getting a little more scarce.  And we wanted to get something that might add more pounds to the kids, and make better nannies.  We decided to go with Savanna.  This is a breed we have not used before.
We found someone 2 1/2 hours away that had some Savanna/Kiko cross billies for sale on Craig’s list.  When we called, we found out the seller was a classmate of ours from college.  He had 5 billies left to pick from.
The sire is a full blood Savanna.

The nannies all looked very nice.  They even had playground equipment.
After some studying and a lot of talking, we finally picked out the two we wanted.
Alan trimmed their feet,
dewormed them and gave them both copper boluses.
Since the trip was far, and diesel so expensive, we decided to take the little truck and haul them in a dog crate.
We reinforced it with a lot of zip ties, but they probably weren’t needed, these two are pretty tame.
They are safe and sound in the barn tonight.  They will hang out there for about a week before we turn them out with the nannies.

They look like a couple of chunky fellas!
Nice that the seller is someone you knew.

Tame billie goats - that sounds like a good thing.
